Lassen National Forest/Bumpass Hell
Isn't it funny how we don't do the most amazing things that are just in "our backyard"? We took this 3 mile hike to Bumpass Hell in Lassen National Forest with Grammy and Papa. It is this amazing upward-flowing hydrothermal feature in the park with mud pots, steam vents and boiling springs. Yes, it was complete with the sulphur smell (rotten eggs)! Gregory held his nose a great portion of the way. All of this hydrothermal activity proves that the volcano is just resting. It is not dead! Gregory also got to take a dip at Summit Lake and play in the snow in his swim trunks.
