We spent the morning hanging out with our new friends, Melissa, Gary, Cole and Bryce. Gregory hated to see his friend Cole leave and tried to talk them in to staying another night. They had a special night booked at Old Faithful Inn though so we said our goodbyes. After lunch we lounged on the beach while Gregory made a new friends with Dawson and Cassidy from Bozeman. Dawson and Gregory built sandcastles out on the sandbar and played together for hours. Later that evening we made smores with their whole family and we rode back to our camp under an incredible star-filled sky.

On the way to dinner we spotted a cow and calf elk through a dense stand of lodge pole pines and the calf was nursing! Gregory even got a little video clip. We found the Lake House Restaurant (right on the water of Yellowstone Lake) and stuffed ourselves on Italian buffet. Mike commented that they were losing money tonight! We ate lasagna, sausages, eggplant Parmesan, meatballs, bow tie pasta, garlic bread and mashed potatoes and gravy plus endless drinks and for dessert cinnamon sticks with icing. Mike and Gregory overindulged on the sausages and we think that is what kept them up all night! The meal definitely helped power us over the mountains the next day.
